Ten woods, two kinds of movement, one fit. Five minutes here and you will know which one is yours, and how to keep it looking new.
01 · Which wood
Start with the wood. It is the thing you will look at most.
Every case is reclaimed timber, so grain and tone vary from watch to watch. Darker woods sit well with a suit; lighter woods with a t-shirt.
Ebony
Near-black and dense. The darkest wood we use, and the one that reads most formal on the wrist.

Two ways to keep time.
Quartz
Runs on a battery. Keeps time to the second and asks nothing of you. Most Forest watches are quartz. Barrel and Flint add stopwatch sub-dials.
Battery changes take a few minutes at any jeweller.
Automatic
No battery. It winds itself from the movement of your wrist, and you can watch it work through the open dial. Leave it in a drawer for a couple of days and it stops; wear it again and set the time.

03 · The fit
Sized at your kitchen table.
Every wooden bracelet comes with a small link tool. Take out a link or two until it sits snug, which takes a few minutes. Scout wears a nylon strap and simply buckles.

05 · Engraving
Make it theirs.
Up to 40 characters engraved on the back in our London workshop, £25. A date, a name, the thing you would say if you were there. Add it on any watch page.

Wood likes what your hands like.
Wipe, don't wash. A soft, dry cloth after wear. Nothing wet, nothing soapy.
Splashes yes, swimming no. Built for everyday wear, not the pool, the shower or the sea. Take it off first.
Keep it out of the heat. A hot windowsill or a radiator dries the wood. Its box is the right place overnight.
Feed it twice a year. A little Wood Wax on a cloth, worked into the case and links and buffed off. Beeswax and jojoba, nothing else. Keep it off the glass and the crown. Wood Wax, £12
